About us
The story of Bulgarian Rose Otto (Oil) begins in the 16th century, when the Rosa Damascena was introduced to Bulgaria’s Kazanlak Valley. Nestled at the unique latitude of 43° north, the valley enjoys a rare harmony of climate: the Balkan Mountains shield it from harsh winter winds, while warm, moist Mediterranean air nourishes the land. Combined with sandy soil and gentle rainfall, these conditions produce some of the world’s finest roses—petals thinly waxed, rich in essential oil, and imbued with a crystal-clear, delicately sweet fragrance.
For over three centuries, the brand has faithfully upheld Bulgaria’s traditional “Otto Process.” This meticulous double-distillation technique transforms 3,000–5,000 kilograms of freshly handpicked petals into a single kilogram of precious essential oil, preserving over 300 active compounds. The result is a golden elixir that naturally crystallizes at 17–22°C—the only rose oil in the world safe for oral use, celebrated as “liquid gold.”
